100 Word Challenge - Unseemly

Today is Thanksgiving Day. Along with all the other things I have in my life for which I can and do give thanks, there's all of you. Those of you whose lives I have been allowed to touch - and whose lives have touched mine. My life would be so much less blessed were it not for all of you. I have much Thanks Giving to do, for all of you. Each and every one. I thank you. I am thankful for you.

What follows is in response to the 100 Word Challenge, authored by the very correct Velvet Verbosity. The word this week is "Unseemly".

100 Word Challenge

To Escape

She crept along the dimly lit hall, the sputtering torches in their iron brackets managing little against the night. Dressed as a boy, her clothing was dark, the more to hide her from sight. She was headed for the small door that led to the ledge along the moat.

"Where go you, Daughter?"

"I go to the woods, Father, and then to the village."

"I will not allow it."

"You cannot prevent it. I go to learn of life and living, love and loving and all the other unseemly things from which you protect me."

She slipped through the door.

This has remained true for centuries, hasn't it? That which we most try to protect our children from they feel compelled to learn themselves.

This reminds me of your Knight's tale. Nicely told.
