Monday Meanders - 7-12

Still no word as to what's going on with Grannie. Tests. But still no answers. We wait. And we thank those of you who have so kindly expressed your concern and care.

Last night I discovered (I don't know HOW I didn't know this was coming) that the Science Channel is broadcasting (or should I say, re-broadcasting) my all time favorite TV series EVER - 'Cosmos'.

It was in this series that Sagan uttered, when speaking of ancient civilizations and their worship of the Sun, "It makes sense to worship the Sun and the stars, for we are their children." But more profound, for me, was when he said, "We are made of star stuff." That single statement has affected me more than any one thing anyone has ever said in my presence.

The next time you draw yourself a glass of water, stop a moment and look at it. Water is composed, mainly, of two hydrogen atoms bound to a single atom of oxygen. The oxygen atoms are young - but here's the thing; the hydrogen atoms that are in that glass of water were made at the beginning of time. They are 13.5 billion years old. When you hold a glass of water in your hand, you are holding the oldest things in the universe - hydrogen atoms. They were all formed 380,000 years after the Big Bang (Or the 'Big Head On Collision', if you understand M-Theory). There have been no new hydrogen atoms made since - but every other atom in the universe has been made SINCE then.

The house work continues - yesterday we replaced the ejector pump. It seems the water we were suddenly and inexplicably finding in the basement every morning was due to an expiring pump. Yuck. But it's better now. Thank goodness Home Depot is open on Sunday. And thank goodness for Ridgid Shop Vacs.

Thank you, again, for all your prayers and hugs. You have no idea ...

There is a link between everything here but I can't quite catch its tail. I do hope your Mom is going to pull out of this soon. Be well.

It must be so frustrating for you and your family to hear anything like "we just don't know yet" from the medical community about Grannie. My thoughts and good wishes are with you all. The hugs go without saying. (Actually, it's a wonder you can move with all the hugs surrounding you.)
