If it wasn't so trying, it would be funny ...

As it turns out, Grannie will NOT be having surgery today. It seems the doctors office caught the fact that she takes blood thinners and she has to be off those thinners for anywhere from 5 to 10 days before they can do surgery on her. So, she'll stay in the nursing center until she has the surgery - which is a good thing, because they can keep up her physical therapy and all the other stuff they were doing before and she'll be even stronger when it comes time for the surgery.

So now we'll have even more time to get the house ready for her to come home. LM (Love Muffin) shot some pictures of the new room and took them to Grannie for her to see. She likes what she saw. Also - she got to see pictures of the now unpackratted (it is SO a word - I invented it) basement. SCORE one for the good guys.

Okay. It's late. I'm tired and I have an email to write before I can go to sleep. (Yes - this is my Tuesday post being written on Monday night - but I always do that.)

Ndinombethe. (As I go, I am wearing you.)

My husband unpackratted our dining room table. That's where he packrats his stuff. Then when I offered to clean and organize it for him, he said, "No! Then I won't be able to find anything." But then what did he do? He went and shoved it all in his truck. Let's see him find his stuff now. :)

I am glad the doctors have paid attention to Grannie's meds and are putting off surgery. What I mean to say is, better that they have noticed that now. Too many medical mistakes these days. I hope it goes great.

Oh, shucks.
Glad they caught that! (How could they have almost screwed that up? Ah, never mind,.... *shakes head*)
Glad she likes her new room and can get some more strength before the surgery!
Wishing you all ALL the Best!
*hugs*

Just as well they caught the blood thinners! Staying put will be good, though, they'll have her revved up for surgery good and proper.
This is Ro btw ;)

I bet the new room and the unpackratted ( I LOVE that word!) basement look great. It's a good thing they noticed about the blood thinners. I'm with Nicole on this, HOW on earth could they have almost missed that?

Hmmm that doctors office seems a bit slow to me. I mean how many 'older' women are NOT on some sort of freaking blood thinner? Most are at least on asprin for christsakes...

And YAY for the cleanup!

Good care for granny. You're a good guy.

Always good when the good guys score. Thoughts and prayers still for grannie to get stronger and get through the surgery with flying colors!

Glad that they caught that. I think that it is comforting to know that there is due diligence being paid to Grannie.

'Unpackratted'. I like that!! I am looking forward to 'unpackratting' when I get settled in Omaha.

Doesn't the basement give you a great sense of accomplishment and clarity? I don't know why, but clutter somehow clutters my mind.

I'm so glad the docs woke up to the blood-thinners. One wonders how many things like that they overlook?

Get strong, Grannie!

I have to agree with Kelley @ Magnetoboldtoo. The doctors should have caught the blood thinner medication before scheduling surgery. However, I am glad someone was double checking her information. It's even better news that Grannie will be stronger when she does have the surgery.

I think you should contact someone at Merriam Webster about including your invented word "unpackratted" in the next edition of the dictionary.

Went to my mom's today to un-packrat her Christmas decorations. While she wasn't willing to part with much, we did condense a HUGE pile of boxes into clear, labeled bins, and she is happy :)

Good thing they realized she was on blood thinners; that could have gotten ugly!

I imagine she'll have surgery next week then? Hoping everything goes good and I'm sure she'll love the room!
