100 Word Challenge - Sauce & Vuvuzela

What follows is in response to Velvet Verbosity's "100 Word Challenge", currently being hosted by Me. The Word, this week, is "Sauce".

Not Fair

"This is so not fair. I don't want to go!!" Junior was very upset that he was being required to go along on the family trip to the Sate Park.

"You and your sister were given things to do around the house while we were out and none of those things got done, so instead of being able to stay home and do what you want, you're coming with us and doing what WE want."

"Yeah? Well, what about her?"

"Yes, your sister is going, too."

"But..."

"STOP!!! What's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander, too. You're going."

I've been on vacation all this week. Not really getting a whole bunch done, although today may be a better day to work in the yard than other recent days have been. In the last couple of days, I've had the chance to watch me some World Cup. I love soccer. I've never played any organized soccer, as a player, but I have been a licensed FIFA Referee and I've also coached some youth soccer - and loved every minute of it.

The thing is, I came to the broadcasts of the World Cup games a day or two late, so I was unaware of the current controversy regarding noise. Specific noise. The noise those horns make. And I have to say when I saw the word "Vuvuzela", before I read the article about it, when I had JUST SEEN THE WORD ... I thought that Vuvuzela might be the African slang for "Vee-jay-jay".

Honest.

How funny, we used the same adage in our Challenges... great minds!

We have been watching a lot of soccer too. Hubs has even been working late so he can take off on days the U.S. plays.

Well, as you might imagine, life here in Italy (ranked #5) is ALL about World Cup! We got together with our neighbors, had a B-B-Q and watched THE game. Outcome was less than what we wanted but we're still in the hunt. Italians were not worried about the sound (they're louder!) Football (soccer) is a great game!

Too funny, Lou. BTW, my dad was always going on about goose/gander sauce too. Still never seemed fair.

That boy should have at least done 'his share'. Maybe he would have had a better position to protest from.

South African for vee-jay-jay, funny.

Down 2-1 to Slovenia as I watch... the Americans got hit in the mouth and has taken a while to get into the gam.

I... have never heard this saying before. :P But cute piece! :)

As for the world cup, I caught a few of the opening games while I was away as my travel partner had the TV on in the hotel room the whole time. Though I'm interested, I haven't really been paying attention since then.

Go (insert team here) Go!
