Friday Haiku - Super 'Ku

I have been doing some research about Haikai Verse (The word Haiku being the plural. See? I told you I've been doing research. But I'm gonna call it Haiku. Because I can. And I'm not a snob. Hopefully). In it's simplest form, it's the expression of an idea in seventeen syllables. Beyond that, there are many, many rules to guide the construction of an Haiku, some of which are contradictory, so, essentially, one must pick from the rules for guidance in the form. Go here to see 65 of those rules for yourself. Anyway, what I plan to do is to stay fairly basic in my use of the rules: 5-7-5, cannot be a run on sentence.

What is not Kosher, apparently, and will NOT be Kosher here, is what I have done in the past - a single idea over multiple 5-7-5 stanzas. Instead, what I intend with Super 'Ku, is to illuminate an idea from two or more angles, with two or more 'stanzas' of 'Ku, each of which is a standalone Haiku. Super 'Ku. And my 'Standard' Super 'Ku will be 3 'ku long. With all that said ...

Haiku Friday

Gwalchmei

Twin swords brandished high
a fey and dangerous foe.
Inside he is kind.

A long way from home
with dangerous climes ahead.
He lives by his wits.

He, knight of the realm,
who has learned to hate the sword.
He faces his soul.

Ndinombethe.

p.s. In a piece of amazingly good, prayed for news, Anissa is home today.

I always love your haiku poems, rules or no rules! Are we going to get more knights stories again soon?

I hope this means that we will be hearing more from The Knight.

Like the others, I've loved your haikus (haikai ?) any way you write them.

If Anissa is prayed for, certainly then, it must be thankful news that she is home.

Seems like I have found TWO exercises here... the first is to comment to making a 100 word entry (once I get that, I will try to make a story) and to see if I can write a Super 'ku.

Be well!

Huh? Aw man, that's way too complicated. I'm glad I don't play golf with you for money. Somehow I think I'd get lost in all the Bingo, Bango, Bongo and taken for $20.

I love this. Whatever the rules, "ya done good."

Rules? There are rules? Gah, see why I don't play the game? I always forget there are rules.

Nicely done.

Jientje: It's still going to be a while - I gotta get more of Sarah done, first.

Big mark 243: L&R to you, too, Sir.

Moneythoughts: I am aware. Drive safe.

Audubon Ron: 20 bucks? That's all?

PattiKen: thank you, Patti:

Hyphen Mama: Thank you, Jenny. You are a dear.

Calicobebop: thank you, ma'am.

And here I thought 5-7-5 was all there was to it. Whatever the rules, your haiku are beautiful, as always.

Sounds rather Lancelot-ish.

And I love Lancelot. Tragic though he was.

Great 'kus hon!
