"Well, what do you think?"
"Gee, I don't know honey. It's an awful lot of money."
"Yes, but we can build a family here. It's a nice neighborhood, the schools are good, and it's on a quiet street."
"But it's so old. Things are going to break down and need repair. And the appliances all need upgrading. It's all going to cost a lot."
"I know. But did you see those huge rooms upstairs? Perfect for the kids."
"We don't have any kids."
"I know, but we will. I can just see them here. Overall, this place is just perfect."

LIke this little pearl you wrote for us, it's perfect! Have a great day!
When my toilet leaks I sell the house and buy a new one. (Not really, but almost).
(Let's try this again...) You've captured a snapshot of young married life. I'm sure that conversation lingers in a lot of our memories. Overall, it really was a tough one, huh?
I thought you were talking about my BMW until you mentioned the word room. Break down and need repair was just so appropriate. : )
Overall... you done good!
That first big decision, summed up so tidily- I can almost hear the floor boards creak.
Nicely done.
These hundred words are why I love you. Keeping it real…ya, know, ‘cause men think this way even though a lot are afraid to admit it.
Aw, such a sweet moment.
This sounds so familiar:
"But it's so old. Things are going to break down and need repair. And the appliances all need upgrading. It's all going to cost a lot."
Jientje: I am so glad you liked it.
Audubon Ron: Why not?
PattiKen: Yes, it was tough.
Moneythoughts: Ah, yes. Beemers.
Hyphen Mama: Thank you, Jenny.
Titanium: Thank you, ma'am. It was tough - but it was fun.
Employee: I shoulda been born a girl - but my sexual proclivities would get me in SO much trouble.
Momisodes: I'm glad it meant something to you.
Dude, you have a gift. Seriously. So much in so few words.
This is PERFECT, and I can relate to this in so many ways :)
This reminds me of when my parents were buying our first house. A fixer-upper Victorian in a small farm town in Vermont. My father made several trips up to Vermont from Massachusetts to look at houses and was faced with the burden of choosing alone. I don't remember why that was, but I remember when we all got to see the house we had picked, he had to convince us of the potential.
I hope he said yes : )
It sounds like the PERFECT place.
And I can tell she loves it!
I'm sure this same conversation has been held by young couples everywhere. So sweet, and brings back lovely memories of our first home, a rustic fixer-upper.
Young and in love and buying a new house!
wonderful conversation.
HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!
and
GONG XI FA CAI!
(means WISHING YOU PROSPERITY! in Mandarin, Chinese)

So relatable, what a great job!
I would say those things about having to fix up the place! And build the family, so fun how you captured all of that.
