A little more meandering

Why is it that days of vacation fly by so quickly? And days at work don't? It should really be the other way round.

We visited Love Muffin's Mum, today. She has always referred to me as her 'dictionary'. If she needed to know what a word meant, she would call me on the phone to ask. This is a woman who graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in Romance Languages - so the words she would inquire about were never, ever, simple. Today she wanted to know how to say 'stroke' in Spanish. She knew what 'heart attack' was, but she wasn't sure she'd ever heard the expression for 'stroke' in Spanish. I told her it's 'derrame cerebral'. I'm sure she knew it - it's just her memory has some holes.

I wore my Santa hat today. No. There are no pictures to document the wearing of the hat. Although I strongly suspect there will be some before Christmas. I even wore it to 'Culvers' - a fast food restaurant. It was filled with young people who kept averting their gaze - even though I could see the smiles on their faces. I'm sure some of the smiling was actually snickering, but some of them enjoyed it, I'm sure. I hope so. I know I did.

PattiKen got the picture today. It got there safely with no damage of any sort. She said she'll post a picture, in mid January, of the piece 'in situ'. If you don't know what I'm talking about ... it's a long story and I'm too lazy to do all the links necessary to explain. When she does the post, then I'll do all the backstory in links so everybody knows.

Happy Tuesday Before Christmas.

The first FULL day of Winter.

Relativity: When I was an older teenager, I went to Dr. Martin Abraham, MD. He was from Germany. Just one of many Jewish doctors that left and was fortunate enough to come to the US. He explained relativity to me once this way. Being with a girl you like for hours seems like only a few short minutes, while touching your hand to fire for just a second feels like an eternity. I remember the warm smile on his face as he told me this, so many years ago.

Lou, now you know why your vacation flies by so quickly. Because it is like being with a beautiful girl. :)

As a teenager I might have snickered at a man wearing a Santa hat, but then I snickered at pretty much everything. But as a child, and now as a parent, I would have loved it. So, thank you for putting a smile on the face all of the rest of the people! I wish more people would wear their Santa hats around. Of course, then it wouldn't be quite so special, but still.

And MUY impressed with your Spanish knowledge! Now I know who to come to when I can't remember a word. Which is always.

Happy Tuesday Before Christmas to you too! We have a selection of Santa Hats, and usually wear them everywhere but we haven't shipped them here yet, so we are funny-hat-less. Would have loved to see you in yours!

I'm on vacation now until Jan. 4. I'm so excited. :)

I'm glad the photo arrived safely.

Merry Christmas!

P.S. Still eating a ton of peppermint bark. It's worth any weight I gain.
