Monday Meanders 11-30

For those who are new here (there are one or two) - The 'Sarah' story you see referenced here once in a while is actually a book in progress called "Vigilante: The Sarah Pierce Story". The set of links in the upper right sidebar will take you to the story as it has been published. The first 16 'tastes' of 'Sarah' have been consolidated into four links, but the rest of the 'episodes' are individual links in that sidebar.

The book is raw and unedited - that is, none of it has, at this time, been re-written or gone over by an editor. Maybe, someday, if I ever get a publisher interested in the book, that might change, but for now, it is SOOC, so to speak (Straight Out Of Camera).

There is a prologue piece to the book - the story is called "The Kid" and it is, in fact, the beginning of the story of 'Sarah'. Links to that story are to be found in the lower right sidebar - either as a series of links which cover the story as first presented, or the whole story can be read all at once by going to the bottommost link in the right sidebar.

There is a third story in the right sidebar - "One Knight's Story" - a book in progress that the development of is currently on haitus. I know. Convoluted sentence.

It seems all the meanders today run in the same direction. I guess that's not much meandering, is it?

Just to meander a bit - #3 son has given up on Air Force ROTC. Which means he also gives up the scholarship they would have afforded him. Yuck. Now what?

Ndinombethe.

Awww, that sucks! Just when you think life gets a little easier, there is another surprise at the horizon.

WHAT!? Oh, no! Although as Sean and I both refused the higher education that was on offer at the time (we both dropped out of scholarship 'A' Levels), distressing our parents immensely, and we're both doing okay now (he's a helicopter pilot, the hard way) I can also say "Yay for #3 son, and I hope he finds his dream".

Maybe he could go to a careers counsellor? I did earlier this year, and it was fun to find where my real talents lay.

The stories are a whole new wonderful world! As for son # 3, I think of all the ways I disappointed my parents and how I found my own, right way. I love my life. I hope he will too.

I hope something good will come out of it. I know this presents you with an extra burden. Good luck.

Sorry about #3 son.

Blech. Kids. Time for a student loan possibility? I'm not looking forward to that discussion. I think I'll send Miss-Miss (oldest) to college, Bubba (middle) to the military, and J-man (youngest) to seminary and the priesthood. That'll cover it. ;)

Too bad you won't put it on LuLu.
Two copies would be mine :)

Not to worry about #3 son, Lou. I have a nephew who eshewed any form of education in favor of fishing. "You'll never make a living that way," said his dad. The young man now owns two fishing boats, has a cable TV show about fishing, writes a column for the local newspaper, and makes more money as a professional fishing guide than his dad ever made. You son will no doubt find his passion and do just fine.

Sorry to hear about #3 and his decision about the Air Force ROTC. It sounded like a really good mix. Hope something else comes up that works for him.

I didn't realize how much I missed the Knight until you mentioned him. Can't wait to get back into that story.

Jientje: Yes - kids seem to specialize in surprises.

Nan: He is SO SET on a career in Japanese and Asian Studies it may be hard for him to see any other path.

Grandmother: Thank you, Mary. I hope so, too.

Moneythoughts: Thanks, Fred. I hope he finds his way.

Audubon Ron: Thanks, Ron.

Coal Miner's Granddaughter: He is going to be buried in student loans.

NicoleB: LuLu is a possibilty.

PattiKen: From your mouth to God's ear.

Joyce-Anne: So am I.

Tara R: I think the Knight is going to need a bit of a re-write - for consistency.

Lou, I'm sorry to hear about son #3. If you need any help as far as scholarship info, student loan info, etc.. I'd be more than happy to have you pick my brain since I am on year FOUR of paying for school myself, and I have pretty much got this student loan/scholarship thing down!

Let me know, my friend.

He'll find his way. Sometimes, the long way just seems easier to some kids. I know, I am that kid.

Your son will end up exactly, precisely, where he is going. And it will be well, regardless of the adventure he'll have to go through to get there.
