Monday Meanders 11-2

We had very few "Trick or Treaters" this year. I have no idea why. Last year we had many, many kids come to the door and I thought that this year, what with Halloween on Saturday and all, we'd be inundated. We weren't. More for me.

Economy in the tank. Real Estate values depressed. I wonder why my Real Estate taxes just went up almost 10%.

I am now managing "The Inferno", a site where writers respond to a challenge in concert with visual artists responding to the same challenge on The Artist Challenge. It's busy and hard to navigate and I am going to have to clean it up a bit so it's leaner, and easier. Arrrr. (That's Pirate talk.)

I watched a movie called "Appaloosa", starring Ed Harris and Viggo Mortensen. I like a good western, once in a while. This was a good one. Oh, yeah. It had Renee Zellweger too. Naked. But briefly - and from a distance. A long distance.

If anyone cares to jump in, the 100 Word Challenge this week is "Writ Large". Click on the thingy up there on the left and read the 'rules'.

Have a great week.

Ndinombethe.

I'm dying to find out what you have cooking at the Inferno, but I will have to wait until I can find time to really sit down and enjoy it. It's not going to be today, today is a travel day again ! Can't wait ...

I imagine fears of catching flu this year kept kids from handling questionable candy. Who knows where it's been. I think there were a lot more at home candy fests.

You know you can challenge a real estate tax increase! Given your age, you might even get some tax relief there too. Check it out, I bet you can move the needle back down.

The big stars don't need to take off their clothes as they have doubles that stand in for them for lighting and nude shots too. Besides, I've seen better bodies on the net.

i don't understand it either, values go down and taxes go up... it sucks!

We had fewer trick or treaters too. Although it didn't stop my children from going out and trick or treating twice during the day. I wonder if Witchypoo is right, since Halloween was a Saturday maybe people had parties at their homes.

Good luck managing the 100 Word Challenge site.

Halloween was bizarre this year. It wasn't just lack of kiddos, but over half of the houses we walked by were lights out, not serving. I was pretty disappointed in my neighbourhood (for my kids) but also understand that there were probably parties and such that night.

We did not have ANY trick-or-treaters!! I brought all the candy to work. It is my secret way to worm into their hearts. Through their tummies. With candy. mmmm....

I actually counted the Trick or Treaters this year and had eighty-eight. We had very little candy left which is great considering how much I ate before Halloween!

This was the first time since my kids were born that we turned on the porch lights and welcomed trick-or-treaters. We probably had 40 or 50 and when we ran out of candy at 8:45, there were still kids coming down the street. Of course, I didn't run fetch my OWN stash of candy for them...I just turned off the lights and closed the curtains.

I'm wondering where you get your time. Your day must be longer than mine...what with all your projects you've got going.

I have a policy. Renee Zellwegger is in the movie, I don't watch it. Naked or otherwise. Monday Meanderings, I like it.

"Economy in the tank. Real Estate values depressed. I wonder why my Real Estate taxes just went up almost 10%." The same thing is happening where I live.

I'll add that movie to the list to arrive in the mail for my husband. Yeah, that's it. It has nothing to do with the fact I think Viggo is dishy....

So you have a lot of leftover candy, eh? Man. That's rough.

We only got two trick or treaters. Brothers who live behind us that I practically begged to come see us. Which left us with three bags of candy. Dang it.

We never get any trick or treaters -- and I still have a trunk full of candy left over from trunk-r-treat too! I'm leaving it out there and hoping a squirrel finds my trunk or something! If it's out there I won't eat it anyway! :)

Thank YOU for being such a comfort to Jientje today -- this morning AND this evening!

Jientje: I hope you like it - but I have to completely re-design it.

Witchypoo: I think you're right.

Moneythoughts: Fred!! Actually, you're right.

Shadow: Yes, it does.

Joyce-Anne: It's not the 100 Word Challenge site - it's different.

Huckdoll: Everybody was down this year.

Calicobebop: More for you!!!

Employee: Wow. 88. Way more than anyhone else I know.

Hyphen Mama: Awww. And you still had your stash?

Ayewonder: Thank you, sir.

Audubon Ron: Two bucks? Well, you DO live in the boonies.

HollyATOM: That was a good movie.

Tracey: Yeah. I know. mmmmmmmm.

CaraBee: Oh, I'm sure.

Melli: Hey - I would have been there if I could have - she was in tears.

Oops, thanks for correcting me. :)

Okay, I'm looking forward to checking out this site.

As for trick or treaters, we didn't have as many this year either. We still had a bunch, but I bought enough candy for way more than a bunch!
