Sing Alma Mater

That's what Zach did yesterday. And me. Yesterday was freshmen move in day at North Central and the Convocation ceremony, held in the early afternoon, involved teaching the audience in the auditorium the tune and lyrics. It was ... humorous.

Yesterday was a difficult day to do all that moving in stuff. Humidity was 90%. Not hot - at least, not until the afternoon - but it's surprising how uncomfortable 70 degrees can be to work in when the humidity is that high.

Naturally, given the day's occupation, there was no opportunity to get to the Internet to do any blog reading and by the time I got home my reader was clogged with new stuff. Man, that gets to be a big number in a hurry. I feel so guilty when I MAAR (Mark All As Read).

Anyway, now that he's gone off to school, the next battle is going to be to figure out what gets done with his room.

I vote we turn it into an art studio.

MAAR can be very liberating when one is whelmed.

I can never do MAAR. I have to at least peek, make sure I'm not missing *the* post of the year, and then I wind up reading the whole thing and generally going and commenting. Which is why my reader has 271 unread things in it. Terrible.

I wish I had the moxie to MAAR sometimes, but my real work stuff is mixed in. I've been doing better at balancing my work/personal time, but that means I find literally 1,000+ in my reader when I sit down to work.

If I had an extra room, I would definitely turn it into my personal office.

I will MAAR but only after peeking at a few that I really, really want to see. As I'm sure you do with MY blog. Right? RIGHT Lou?!?

You MAARed me? Say it isn't so.

You get one atomic wedgy for that.

I remember this time from last year. Each one of the dorms where Meg attended school was assigned a nun and when we'd all been dragging stuff in for a suitable amount of time, they came around offering refreshments and then the sisters would escort us all to Alfond center where Freshmen and parents alike would be taught the Alma Mater with a fair number of upperclassmen present as well to try to make it appear as it someone there knew the words and could sing it. *lol*

Oh and about that humidity? We've got the same thing going on here in Maine. It makes 70 feel wicked miserable for some reason.

I vote for an art studio too. Haven't seen enough Art coming from you lately? There was a time, and a place and a blog ...?????

I second that vote. I'll finally have room for a study in my new place, and maybe- if I can- I'll make it a study/ studio.

I'm with you Lou, an art studio is grand idea. A place of inspiration and introspection. Let creativity lose.

Art Studio has my vote! :)

I like the idea of turning his room into an art studio, however I think LM may have other ideas. :)

Shadow: I'm sure she already has plans for it.

Witchypoo: And OVERwhelmed, even.

CaraBee: I DO peek at some. I HAVE to!

Ashlie: Me too, but LM (Love Muffin) has plans, I'm sure.

Tracey: Yes, ma'am. Absolutely correct ma'am. Will there be anything else, ma'am?

Audubon Ron: Ah. So THAT'S what that was.

Moneythoughts: thanks, Fred.

Audrey: It sure does. It was like being in a sauna.

Jientje: More Art coming, soon. I hope.

Loraine: It would be nice. Maybe she'll let me have a corner.

Eric S: I know what you meant. And yes.

Elizabeth: Thank you, Elizabeth.

Joyce-Anne: You and I, both.

Oh, I've so been there, done that lately. (And yea...what is it about these convocations??? There was no such animal when I went to school. Ours was hilarious too.)

lol - great news about the school, but I'm sure it's a pain to decide what to do with the room... Although, I may be going out on a limb here, your wife might have a good idea. :)

I thought about you on Wednesday and was going to send you an email, minus the part where I HAD NO EMAIL that day.

Don't be so quick to revamp that room... you don't want him to think you've been counting the minutes 'til he left! (oh wait, am I just projecting my own issues on you?)

I can't tell you how many times I've hit that MAAR button. Probably more times than not.

I hope Zach has a wonderful year! So exciting.

That is so exciting for you Lou! And don't worry about MAAR'ing. I did it this a.m. and felt liberated/rebellious lol. Except I kept my "favorites" folder open, which is why you're getting this comment! *smirks*
