Miss Grace

Tomorrow, on 'Wordless Wednesday', Miss Grace's picture will publish. I had another 'lesson' last night and we did more Photoshop work on Miss Grace's picture.

When I was left to my own devices, I began to realize just how complex Photoshop is, and how difficult it is to figure out how to do what you know needs to be done.

First there's the problem of nomenclature. What things are called in your head is often different from what those same 'actions' are called in Photoshop. A lot of the stuff in Photoshop is NOT intuitive - you have to KNOW what is it you want to do, and you have to KNOW HOW to do what it is you want to do, and all of that starts after you figure out what it's CALLED in Photoshop.

Then there's the problem of 'vision'. It's one thing to know all of the Photoshop stuff - it's quite another to have the vision to see a final photograph and then use your Photoshop knowledge to produce that image. It requires and knowledge of what is possible and then, again, applying that knowledge to the source picture and creating, in your mind, the end game piece.

Photoshop is a monster. But if you can tame that beast, the world is yours to command. And that very valuable skill should be well rewarded. In a world where film is dying, if not dead, digital photography skills and especially post processing skills will become more and more valuable.

Just a thought.

Yeah. Why does Photoshop have to be so persnickety? As long as I've had the program, I still haven't made it my bitch.

Me and photoshop are constantly at war! Photoshop usually wins :(

Oneday I will master it :)

You are probably 100% right.

I'll be by tomorrow. I don't want you worrying about me. :)

I have a love/hate relationship with Photoshop. I love the idea of it. I hate anytime I sit down to try and master it. Someday I will but so far it hasn't climbed to the top half of my priority list which is odd considering I practically have a camera surgically grated to me.

This is why I love Paint Shop Pro. It's like Photoshop for morons. :D

I have Photoshop Elements. I use it pretty much only to upload my photos - because I get REALLY impatient with the terms. ;-)

I took a class in Photoshop and I feel like I barely scratched the surface of what it can do. We only have Elements here at home and I am all the time finding new things it can do. You're right, it is a monster.

I am so clueless when it comes to Photoshop. Heck! Who am I kidding? Clearly, I'm clueless when it comes to technology! Can't wait to see your work with Photoshop.

Nan: Join the club.

Witchypoo: It's just that it's HUGE.

MissyBoo: I know, I know - me too.

Miss Grace: So pretty ....

Patsy: Aww, Patsy. Of course I worry.

Rhoni Renee: Where do you publish your shots?

Honeybell: Yup. But I've got Photoshop and I will NOT give up.

Ree: Terminology is a bitch.

CaraBee: A monster, and at times, monstrous.

Joyce-Anne: Tomorrow. It's not perfect - but I'm making progress.

I'm with Honeybell, I use Paint Shop Pro. Much more user friendly.
But you're right about the post processing skills.
