But I have an excuse

*Notice how today's blog post title actually continues the thought from yesterday's blog post title.*

If you will recall, Friday was my nephew's wedding. So, of the 8 (yes, I said eight) siblings my wife has, 7 were here, in Chicagoland, to attend the wedding. And to take care of some business.

My father-in-law was an artist. He did drawings and sketches and carvings and paintings that adorn various and sundry walls of various and sundry family members. And they're very good and treasured by those family members who have them. But, the things he did the FEWEST of, the bas relief carvings on wood panel, are in fact his best stuff and most prized by his children. Those pieces of art which had been in my mother-in-law's home needed to be distributed among the many family members, because that home is now up for sale and the MIL is in a care facility not far from our home, here in Illinois.

So the whole fam damily showed up at one of the domiciles in the area, and food was had and coffee was served and the children met to divide the stuff as equitably as possible.

It is now 11:50PM on Saturday and I've just gotten home to write my post for Sunday and then go to sleep. The whole day was spent at LM's sister's house. And, again, although sober as a judge, I AM tired.

It was, however, a nice day spent with good people I don't get to see enough of, given the great distances which separate many of us. I don't know when I'll get to see some of them again. So it was time to take advantage of what time there was available to us. Which we did.

In spades.

Naturally, I would love to see what that artist did, but I doubt you made a photo record of the pieces, or did you?

Hope you get some rest Sunday. Go Bears?

Family get togethers are so much more important than a weekend blog post. As a matter of fact, I skipped a day myself. It has not happened before. Ever. But hey...
I'm glad you had a great weekend Lou.

No pics of any of his artwork?

Sounds like you had a chance to do a bit of catch up with everyone.

I love that you mention you're sober again. I'm impressed. I can rarely do so while around my in-laws.
