It's coming back.

I haven't done much new work on Sarah, it seems, since last November. I've done edits on what already exists, but not much new. There have been other things to pursue, other interests, other stories.

Now that Gwalchmei is on a sort of forced hiatus while I do some research, I am able to re-focus time and effort on Sarah.

I was rather shocked to realize that so much time had elapsed since any new stuff had been written for Sarah. I suppose it's because I am still in an area of the story where I cannot clearly see my path forward.

It was like that when I wrote the story of 'The Kid'. I was well into it, just sort of following my nose, if you will, before I got to a point in the story where I could suddenly see the whole thing.

Sarah is a much, much bigger story. There are so many possibilities, so many potential paths to follow, that it's going to take some time to crystallize the story so that I can see the whole thing.

So I'm just following my nose, again, letting the story take me where it wants to go. There's been a couple of surprises for me, so far, and I'm sure she's not done taking me in unexpected directions yet. But the drive is coming back - the love for this story is pushing at me to write it, again.

So I shall.

I find it fascinating how you write your stories. And I love where you take us by them. It's a great gift you have. And I love reading your stories and your words.

With your stories, I always think "Oh, I'll read them all in one shot, when I get a few minutes."

I have yet to have a few minutes.

The path matters not, just right and it will be shown! I bet if you started writing the different directions, one would stand out for you as being the "right one". I've done that, and ended up with different stories from what I started out after. But then I seem to think at the keyboard, not sure why that is

Opps, that should have been "just WRITE" LOL!

Sarah will come. Be careful or she'll start waking you up in the middle of the night and insist you write more for her.

Jientje: Would that my stories were as good as your pictures.

Shadow: I hope you like it.

MrsFwith4: You won't have to wait long.

Hyphen Mama: You got kids, Kid. Of course you don't have time.

Eric S: I think at the keyboard, as well.

Joyce-Anne: I can't wait.

Sounds like you write stories the way I read them; several at once. :) Good luck, hon!

What a wonderful discovery! I had no idea you are a writer. I guess I should read blogs more often. Never really looked back into past entries, not enough time. After reading today's, I had to go back and read "The Kid". I was hooked. Had to read the whole thing and now can't wait to read "Sarah" and "The Knight's Story". Keep on writing!

Oh, and I loved the photos of Chicago. Born and raised in the SE burbs. Still love to visit, but live with mountains and wide open spaces now.

Isn't it something how some characters get in your head and under your skin and just stay there? It's been a long, long time since that happened to me, but I know the feeling.
