Tuesday Tale - Heartfelt, cont.

She ran out of the building, zigzaging between the cars parked in the lot, putting her coat on as she ran. The rain was still a fine mist, but it was cold and windblown, and walking home in this rain would get her soaked.

But he was waiting for her. And she was anxious, somehow, to be with him.

As she ran up to him, she held out her hand and ran, her hand in his, for a short way down the sidewalk.

"Don't you have a heavier coat?" she asked. "You're going to get soaked."

"I'm okay. It's not raining that hard."

"You'll still get wet, silly. Where are we going?"

"I don't know. I WAS going to go home ... but that's a long way from here and I can't take you there anyway. My folks are home ..."

"Why don't we take a bus downtown? We could see a movie."

"Sure. I'd like that."

Half an hour later, after a bumpy bus ride full of hand holding and a conversation that got easier and easier as they rode along, they sat in the back of the theater, almost alone in the warmth and dark.

He slipped an arm around her shoulders. She leaned her head on him.

He could smell the freshness of her hair. She could feel his heart pounding in his chest.

She could feel flutters all through her body in anticipation of his kiss. Her first kiss. He could barely breathe as he tried to work up the courage to place his fingers under her chin and bring her face up to his.

Lips that had never kissed each other paused as they barely touched, slightly parted, they each could feel the breath of the other and they each felt tingles and chills all over. And then they kissed. Sweetly hard. And long.

To be continued ....

There is NOTHING in this world better than the first kiss with someone.

Okay, so maybe there is, but you make it seem like there isn't. ;-)

Young love :)

Wait. What? said...

my first kiss was nothing special with a friend in high school - never had a second because it was too much like kissing my brother!

I was wondering are the last few paragraphs autobiographical?

Such a sweet moment. I love that "new love" sensation. You surely captured it well here.

Ah... but if all first kisses were that tender and sweet.

I hope holding hands never goes out of style. Or kissing in cinemas.
