This time, it's different.

#3 Son left home yesterday. Off to school, college, for the next month. Premier Scholars program. A preview of what is to come. It's not like he hasn't been away from home before. He has. But that was high school. It was just a residential program and besides, we had him home for his senior year. This time it feels more permanent. This time .. it's different.

This happens to all parents, I know. It's happened in this house before. I have, after all, two older sons, one of which is married. But he is the last.

The youngest. And last.

And I feel old.

{{Hugs}} I can totally relate to this. That empty nest is a strange thing. You want your kids to be independent, but it does happen way too quickly.

they really do grow up so fast... it won't be long till I'm in a very similar situation. And feeling very old indeed.

I am not there...yet. However, I feel for you and understand. After all, I am the parent who is NOT sending her third and last child to nursery school because I can't stand the idea of leaving her even for a short period of time.

But you realize there's always the possibility that they'll come back, right?

;-)

Love you, you old far.

Oh- I know! It's the empty nest syndrome, but you'll oddly change your mind about them being out of the house in short order. I promise.
To funny.

When my last one left home, the hubs and and I went out to dinner to celebrate. Junped for joy. Then they started coming back. Eventually we sold the house and ran away in an RV so they couldn't move back home.

Seriously, we loved that they moved out. And hated each time they moved back in.

Tara R: Exactly, Tara.

Witchypoo: Except, well ... Grannie, you know?

Rebecca: Thank you, Reba.

Loraine: Yeah, but hte difference between me and you is ... You're gorgeous.

Joyce-Anne: Oh my, you ARE in trouble, aren't you?

Ree: Either that's a reference to the fact that I am a 'far', i.e., someone who does NOT live close by to you, OR, you left off the 't'.

GirlBlue: Thank you, sweetheart.

Redchair: I'll take your word for that.

Karen: I only won three dollars with my last lottery ticket. I can't afford to run away. Yet.

I understand your feeling. Hubby was a little more excited when the third daughter was gone -- really gone. One evening he came running into the living room buck naked waving his hands above his head and shouting "wooo whooo, wooo whoooo" Then he laughed and said, "I've always said that when the last girl left this house I was going to do that. Felt good." He then walked back to the bedroom coming back clothed and calm.

OMG! How did I miss this. I am so sorry Lou.

Sending many, many late, but heartfelt hugs to you and Annie.
