banjo music

Yesterday, as we left the golf course we had just played, the Course Director said, "Y'all come back now, heah?" That last word translates to 'hear', as in, 'Do you hear me?' And the unspoken answer was, "Yes, but it would be easier if you'd put your teeth in."

Branson is roughly 30 miles North of the border with Arkansas. One needs to remember, preferably sometime BEFORE you get here, in order to minimize shocked looks on your face as you become aware of stuff, that Branson is smack DAB in the middle of the down home, come to Jesus, Bible Belt. And it shows. And sinners like me stick out like a sore thumb.

We are all having a great time. SWMBO and Bitsy have found all kinds of places and ways to spend money, #1 and #2 Sons and I played golf yesterday and when we got home, while I was soaking in the jacuzzi in the bathroom, the two older boys decided to get their little brother happier than he should have been, on beer. Oh, joy.

He's better now.

And so are we all.

Ndinombethe.

My in-laws are in Arkansas so I recognize the local vernacular. If I had known you would need a translator I would have offered my services.

If you really want to fit in with the natives, throw a couple 'shucks' and 'ya'lls' into your conversations.

Good to heah ya'll are havin' a fine ol' time.

I just remember having to pull over to let my baby out of the back of the jeep to vomit- he got road sick - and having pulled up next to a home that looked more like a shack - with 5 or 6 rusted out vehicles in the yard and various other indoor furnishing pieces cluttered about a I mentioned having a weird memory of that movie - deliverance. The town was called three brothers or fair dealing - Arkansas - and all I could think was - lets clean him up and get moving!

Well, you just solved any urge for me to head that way. I'm pretty sure I'd be struck by lightning (or a club) were I to enter the Bible Belt.

I'm headed to Texas in a few weeks- not sure if the part I'm going to is bible- beltish but I'm pretty sure it is.
But I'm already a HUGE sinner where I am- because I drink coffee and tea and occasionally -gasp- Whiskey!

Well, at least it's not a dry Bible belt county! That would be MUCH worse! Have a great time!

So, #3 got his first older sibling beer bust, eh? ;-)

Glad you had fun - glad you're back.

It's always the older siblings who manage to get the younger one in trouble isn't it...Sounds like you're having a wonderful time vacationing with the family - sans the banjo music. (Hugs)Indigo
