There was a time I was a single man .. and alone. I wasn't happy, I just didn't know it. It took a bad marriage to show me what it was I was missing. And then I met Annie. She stopped me in my tracks. I gave up everything I was involved with and devoted every waking minute to thoughts of her .. and being with her. Every weekend I drove hundreds of miles just to spend an evening with her. She filled me with a sense of completion. I knew. Even if she didn't, at first, I did. I just knew.
And everything I knew has come to be. This coming June 25th, we will have been married 32 years. We have three grand sons. And one daughter-in-law.
I still feel complete. Just older.

In a few weeks Mr Hyphen and I will celebrate 10 years. I truly hope in another 22 years he'll speak of me as fondly as you speak of Annie. She is a very lucky woman.
you are fortunate to have found each other. revel in it!
Last week Mr F and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary (and marked 17 years, four children and two airplanes together).
We moved in together after one week, one flat tyre, and one chinese meal. And they said it wouldn't last....
'Sense of completion' - you have it exactly. As always.
And that is real love :)
Funny how you 'just know' it eh.

Awww! Just awwww!
I know what you mean- we're loving it, too. We're only coming up on our second anniversary this July, but we sure look forward to the years ahead. Thanks for the inspiration!!
You're a happy man.
And you know what? You KNOW it.
See, and I just feel completely old.
When it's right, it's just right. It took me two previous marriages and my husband one before we found each other. And we are sublime together, even if I do say so myself!
Hubs and I have been together for 25 years this summer. It doesn't seem that long, yet it's all I remember. Congrats on finding your way to Annie and making your journey together.
Life is so much sweeter when we travel it with someone we love. I know you were blessed to have found Annie and she you. I was blessed to have Garry for 10 years (until his untimely death) and Robert for the past 33 year.
This August my husband and I will be married for 10 years. Even though, we face a few challenges, mostly raising our 3 little ones, neither of us would change a thing. I'm glad you still feel a sense of completion with Annie.
Older is good when it's better.
You and Annie are just plain cute together. I'm so happy that you all are so happy because you both are just so nice and just deserve it.
I had no idea you drove hundreds of miles to see her every week. That IS love.
So glad you both found each other. Congratulations on 32 years!
Hyphen Mama: It's me that's the lucky one.
Shadow: I do, V. I do.
Mrs F with 4: Thank you, Mrs F.
Myst_72: Yeah, ain't it?
M+B: Now ho do I respond to that?
Loraine: Loraine, you are more than welcome.
Jientje: Yes. I KNOW.
Ingot: I'm sorry, Ingot. That's sad.
Bama Cheryl: Say so, and say it loud and often.
Tara R: Thank you, Tara.
Patsy: Yes, the journey IS sweeter when you're not alone.
Joyce-Anne: That's when it's right - when you wouldn't change a thing.
Ree: I'd like to think it's 'better', anyway.
Maggie's Mind: Thank you, Maggie - you're sweet.
Momisodes: I drove from Chicago to Winona, Minnesota, EVERY weekend.
Sigh, you guys are sweet :)!!
To feel complete...that would be the most wonderous compliment of love itself. (Hugs)Indigo
I think that this - what you write about is really what the goal is in life - to feel complete - Ah this was possibly the most beautiful thing I have read in a very long time Lou and I am envious of your completeness!
I *heart* this post, Lou!
I read this a long time ago, but I just wanted to say in the rare occasion that I'm reading blogs...
Wow. Congrats. Now, THIS is what it's all about. This is the stuff dreams are made of...and you know how I like to dream!! You're quite obviously one of the rare ones that followed their hearts and the payoff was amazing. An inspiration, Lou :)
