comes the prom, soon

Today we took our last son to the Men's Warehouse to buy him a suit.

Not just any suit, mind you.

The suit he's to wear to the Senior Prom.

I remember when I was that skinny.

I remember when I had that much hair on my head.

I remember when I had the first black hairs growing out of MY chin.

I wonder if this is how my Dad felt.

I hope so.

Then I would know that he is as great a man as his son.

Looking forward to seeing some pictures.

Wow, what a fabulous occasion. I echo Kelly, if he's anything like his Dad he'll be one of the good ones. Love to you all Lou, BG x

I remember when I took my daughter shopping for her first formal gown. It WAS a big deal. I'm looking forward to the prom tux with my son too.

It's a bittersweet time now. Our teens are still kids to us, but there are these outstanding moments when we see the promise of the adults they are growing into.

Ohhhhh, he's going to prom. Sigh.

Shortman wore his suit (that he needed for a business professional conference when he joined as a Junior...but then he dropped out 3 months later)... anyway

Shortman wore his suit to school for a presentation last week. Dropped ketchup on his leg and wiped.it.off.with.a.napkin.

sigh.

Time just flies, doesn't it?

One day they're toddlers, coloring on your walls. The next you're getting them ready for the Senior Prom.

Will there be a limousine involved?

I fortunately only had to deal with the cost of prom for one daughter, and I spoiled her rotten. Skye had the prom I never did and all the amnenties.

I didn't worry how my mother would of felt, I knew she wouldn't of approved...I felt the deep sense that only a honest invested in your child mother could - pride and tears seeing how truly beautiful she was.

I'm betting your dad had that same fierce pride and love, as do you.

A moment to cherish. To hold in your heart forever. Like your dad did, I'm sure.

Enjoy such moments, they are the ones we treasure. But you already knew that.

Funny- my friends and I were talking about our prom experiences today. I didn't go because the chick who was supposed to get my ticket and my dress ran off with her boyfriend instead- and stole everything in her parent's house on her way out. Blue went with a pity date after her dress was shredded by her angry step mother (who was mad at her dad) and had to wear a poofy pink dress- and all the girls ended up hating her because they all ended up dancing with her instead of them. Then her date ditched her and she made a new boyfriend. Steve didn't go because the girl who had asked him turned out to be playing a joke on him with her friends.
It was a very interesting conversation!
