My Reminder

Beautifully crafted, I remind myself to take pleasure in the minute details of this life.
It's so easy to become distracted. To become caught up in the mundane moments that we repeat over and over each day.
It's easy to let awareness fade away and to lazily switch on auto-pilot so that we don't have to analyze every moment.

Sometimes the right way isn't the easy way.

I'd rather live this life consciously, forcing myself to use every ounce of energy necessary to appreciate what it is that I have created than to wallow in the misery and self pity that can overtake us when we move in the reactive, rather than proactive, role throughout our own experience.
I have to force myself to feel gratitude.
It's not always this way, but when I'm exhausted to the max, it takes work. Effort that I can easily say I don't have the energy for.

Sometimes the right way isn't the easy way.

I don't believe that we are naturally inclined to walk through our days blind-folded. It may be what's common these days, especially while we're inundated with popular media and news. That's what appears to be the norm. I don't think we are designed that way, however. If we were, we wouldn't have such a powerful emotional connection with spirituality.
It takes work to make this a magical experience. It takes effort and awareness. And intentional action.

Sometimes the right way isn't the easy way.

The right way is sometimes the most challenging. It's what takes the most thought, the most drive, and often the most motivation. I've found that doing things the right way separates the doers from the reactors.
Call it pride or character. Call it being controlling or a Type A personality. Call it what you will. But for me, I prefer to do things the right way.

Because the right way is always the most gratifying way.

I always picture a National Geographical special with a guy in a hammock in a hut hugging a baby, looking out over the jungle....

I mean, that being the RIGHT way, and then I realize I get in my car, turn up my radio, get pissed in traffic....

Doing things the "right way." My first thought is, what is the right way? Is there only one right way? Can there be different right ways for different people? Is your use of the words "right way" referring to living one's life within the law? I would agree that we should all try and live within the law for the good of all members of society. But, doing things the right way leads me to ask, is there only one right way? Is there only one right way to paint, write, sing, or pray? I sure hope not.

One thing I've tried to do is not second guess the decisions I've made - well, at least, when I finally had made that decision. For me, having "no regrets" is important, live with the decision and go forward from there.

I can see why Lou chose you to guest host. Living moment to moment, noticing the little things most don't...how else can we live life fully and grasp every ounce of it for what it's worth..

You did a wonderful job, dear one!(Hugs)Indigo

I don't believe that there's one right way that everyone should follow. In fact, the opposite. What's right for me isn't what's right for you.

I just wanted to point out that taking the path of least resistance isn't as gratifying or rewarding... and that every challenge can lead us to something better.

Namaste,

Miss Ash

I hope nobody "out there" is keeping score. I think I've done things the wrong way a lot...but regardless, I've learned invaluable lessons from each wrong doing. So in that respect, those must have been the right way for me. I just didn't know it at the time.

Nice to meet you, Miss Ash.
You said it so well.
I'm with Hyphen Mama regarding this. Mine was not the easiest way either, but looking back, I think it was the right way ...

Such a beautiful guest post and so true. The best stuff of life is worth stopping to appreciate and also doing the right way, whatever way that is.

the message is everywhere, no matter what the banks are doing lets enjoy ourselves, live our lives the way its meant.
lifes full of surprises but everyone wants certainty, secure job, good bank balance etc.
But it me lifes infinate richness is just to be happy and then you get people around you to feel good and this makes u feel better.
its just so simple in it then why is it so hard?

Well written, and so well stated. Doing the right thing does take effort some times. It's unfortunate, should be automatic. But it is human nature to have to struggle with decisions.

Great guest post Miss Ash
