Moldy Oldy

It is SO COLD around here I thought I might find something to bring back the memory of warmth. This post I'm going to reprint was right after the trip to the glider port in Hinckley, IL, which was my anniversary present from Annie. Click on the second one - like it says. And then click on the links in the last paragraph and drive some traffic into Zoeyjane's site for charity.

When I was about 6 months old, my mother grabbed her little butterball son, held him up over her head and said, "There's my little fat boy." Somehow, that became my nickname as a kid. It stuck with me until I went into the Marines at age 17. Now, when I reported to boot camp in San Diego, I measured 5'7" tall and 125 lbs. I had a 29 inch waist. And the trousers were STILL loose. But my nickname was fatboy. Until I got to boot camp. And then it changed to any one of a series of rotating names like "boot", "shit-for-brains", "turd", "asswipe" and anything else the drill sergeant could think up. But at least it wasn't fatboy anymore.

Anyway, I found some more pictures from the Great Glider Event, as requested by neutron. (30th anniversary, actually) Annie had them on her laptop. The first picture is the landing of the second ride. Just a few feet off the ground - seconds before touchdown.

The next shot is the one I referenced yesterday - the one with the grin. Click on it and pop it out. It looks like the Michelin Man in the front seat of the glider. Now you know why I thought of my childhood nickname when I saw this picture.

Those of you who have been here for a while know I like to take pictures. And I have a pretty nice digital camera. The pictures above were taken with the camera I bought Annie for our anniversary. A Canon Digital Rebel Xti. She took 371 pictures in the two hours we were at the glider port in Hinckley, Illinois. She likes taking pictures, too.

The next paragraph is our daily push for traffic into Zoeyjane's site for the purpose of raising money for charity. A good charity. So don't stop now. Click.

Zoeyjane of Mommy is Moody is DOING something. She is donating all the revenue from her advertisements on her site, for this month, to To Write Love On Her Arms. Go to Zoeyjane's site and read This Post. She gets paid by 'Impressions'. Just going there helps. Click on her ads - and help more. Click through to To Write Love On Her Arms and see what they do. Just doing that will help, too. This paragraph is going to appear at the end of each post, each day until the end of the month. As a reminder. Just click through. And help. Save the women and men and boys and girls that don't need to live without love, that don't need to suffer addiction and depression, that don't need to die.

Me first! Me first!

I love that 2nd picture. It's like a little boy experiencing the HAPPIEST thing he could possibly think of at that moment. I hope you get to do it again, soon.

Those are awesome. Somewhere around here, I have a picture of me getting out of one of those things-and I have similar expression.

Though I can say you do NOT look like a fatboy in either one of them, Lou!

I don't know about the Michelin Man, but your sure look absolutely ecstatic. I bet that was too much fun to handle. Reminds me of a little boy at Christmas time opening that present that turned out to just exactly what he had wanted.

Live young

I know you didn't mean it to be a sad post, but it was for me!!!

Fatboy?

Yikes. That's a bad nickname.

Well, now you're Lou, or Louceel and not Fatboy......you have a new persona yet again.

The names we grow up with...no one thinks they stay with us, but they do inside where our memories live the strongest. I had them all said to me at one point or another, the worst was the question was I deaf AND dumb...I do believe I've proven over time, I'm never silent and intelligent as hell.

Here's to wishing your immersed in the beauty of the season dear one. (Hugs)Indigo

I had this thought last night, even though it is very cold, we are now moving back towards the light, more daylight, less darkness. Somehow that thought makes the cold a bit easier for me to handle. It is only temporary...

Best wishes to you and your family for a happy holiday!

Ughh...nicknames. I was not a size 29 waist, nothing like it, so fatgirl, ugly, loser, all those names fit, stuck, and I carried them for a long time. Still learning to put those bags down, and run free-ya know?

That picture is great! You are glowing, like a kid in a candy shop. Very cool. I hope you get another opportunity to "fly" again someday.

How fun!

The cold is bitter these days but I hear if we can manage to get through December it will be pretty mild the rest of the winter...ya right!

Happy Holiday Lou!

Hyphen Mama: I hope so, too. Sometime this coming summer, for sure.

Jientje: More pictures? I'll see what I can do.

Suzanne: I was 4 pounds under the 242 pound weight limit, fully dressed. I'm well under that now - but at 5'9" tall, that makes me a close cousin of the Michelin Man.

Shadow: Nothing would please me more.

Eric S: Hey, that's the only way to live.

Christy: I'm sorry this was a sad post for you. Really. And yes, a new persona.

Indigo: No. You are, if nothing else, an amazing and intelligent person.

Kimmylyn: Thanks for thinking so. Big HUGS to you and yours.

Raino: Thank you ma'am. And I will be well basted tomorrow.

Hockeychic: And this too shall pass ... My mantra.

Tash: Yeah. I think 'ear to ear' suits it well, don't you?

Conversemomma: Whatever it was you went through, you came out the other side a beautiful, intelligent, articulate woman.

Honeybell: Thank you, Honeybell. It was FUN!

Nicole: Yup. That's my name - don't wear it out.

Tara R: Oh, Annie was thoroughly properly thanked.

Joyce-Anne: I'm sure I will. But thenk you, Joyce-Anne.

Maggie's mind: Snug as a bug in a rug.

Cat: From your mouth to God's ear.

Eve Grey: All of these Canons are really nice cameras. Nikon and Canon are the best of breed.

I agree with Jientje, you should post your photography more often. You have gorgeous pics.

I just love your big grin in that second shot.
