Just Random Shiz

I thought everyone knew what kegels were. Their description is here. Now, the description, obviously, describes the exercise as something that WOMEN do. But men benefit from doing those exercises, as well. Honest. And that is all I'm going to say about it.

I worked from home yesterday. When I got up in the morning to drive to work, I was unable to get through town to get to the expressway. After the 5 hours or so spent in the car the evening before, I felt justified in saying "No Friggin' Way", turning around and going home.

For lunch, during lunch, whatever, I took the snow blower to the driveway. God, I love that thing. My driveway. My neighbor across the street. In no time flat and with minimal effort.

As it gets closer and closer to Christmas, it gets more and more difficult to prevent myself from getting maudlin and emotional here. But I will persevere. I will stay above all of that. *sob*

I bought a snow blower for Mark today. His 30 year old one broke and Annie told me he shoveled his walk and driveway today. He is NOT supposed to be doing that. He is, by the way, going to be okay, it seems. The Doctor is going to do a procedure that will cure his erratic heart beat and once that's done, the expectation is that his heart will return to normal size and he will be well.

Fortunately, I was able to get the snow blower at Zero Percent. (He will pay me back.)

The tickets for Trinidad have been purchased. I am so looking forward to this trip.

The next paragraph is our daily push for traffic into Zoeyjane's site for the purpose of raising money for charity. A good charity. So don't stop now. Click.

Zoeyjane of Mommy is Moody is DOING something. She is donating all the revenue from her advertisements on her site, for this month, to To Write Love On Her Arms. Go to Zoeyjane's site and read This Post. She gets paid by 'Impressions'. Just going there helps. Click on her ads - and help more. Click through to To Write Love On Her Arms and see what they do. Just doing that will help, too. This paragraph is going to appear at the end of each post, each day until the end of the month. As a reminder. Just click through. And help. Save the women and men and boys and girls that don't need to live without love, that don't need to suffer addiction and depression, that don't need to die.

What follows I learned from Tash. It is an African proverb - it means, "Where I go, I am wearing you."

Okay, I'll admit it. I googled the kegels, and I'm glad I did. I found some very *ahum* useful information.
I'm glad Mark is going to be fine too! He's come a long way, if he's already shoveling his driveway? Okay, he SHOULD NOT DO THAT, you're right about that one!!
Have a great day Lou!

I can't believe how much snow Chicago got. Usually we are the ones to get dumped on. I heard about all the traffic and read about your horrible commute in my reader yesterday. I even told my mom, "Did you know that Lou was in the car for 5 hours."

She was all like, "Who's Lou?"

Well, I'm glad you had enough sense not to try to go to work yesterday. At your age you have earned a pass on a snow day. I remember in 1978 taking the bus downtown (Cincinnati) to the bank only to be told by the president that the bank was closed. I did this two days in a row and each time the pres. said the bank was closed. I was 35 then and thought nothing of it. Going out and running around in the snow was no big deal then. My attitude now is snow melts.

Are you going to post while you are in Trinidad? How about pictures of you on the beach? I'll bet there are more than a few bloggers that would love to see you running through the surf.

As for working hard in cold weather, it is not smart if your body is not in condition. Take my advise and be good to yourself, not everyone gets a second chance.

Yes, Mark SHOULD NOT get out in the snow!!!!

Lord, lord....

Glad you're able to stay home!

And glad you're able to go to Trinidad!

You're a lucky boy...

Lou, that was so awesome that you were able to get Mark a snowblower.
You're a great friend.

I can't imagine living in the Midwest without a snowblower - that was kind of you to purchase one for him. I am off to click and read Zoeyjane's blog to help out!

Mark, patience young man! You'll be fit as a fiddle in no time after the operation and can shovel the drive then. In the meantime - technology and your boy Lou can help!

Trinidad? You're coming to Trinidad??? :)

Mr Hyphen has a HUGE snowblower that's his pride and joy. He's the only one on the block with one, so after a big storm he does half the block's sidewalks and a few driveways. He's earned a ton of fresh baked bread and bottles of wine for his "service".

How kind of you to get one for Mark. What a good friend you are, Lou.

That is wonderful news about Mark.

Yes, Paul played with his toy yesterday too.

The nice thing about kegels is that you can really do them anywhere.

Trinidad?!? That is awesome.

Excellent news about your friend too.

Best of wishes to Mark and his family, and to you- everyone could use a friend like you.

Do you know what part of Africa that proverb is from? There are 53 countries on the continent and hundreds of languages...

All kinds of crazy weather. I'm out for the first time in my car since Saturday. I don't blame you for turning around, even if you can man Kegel your way through anything. Still, for men, wow. And yay for Trinidad! I'm small, can I go in your carry on bag? So far no extra charge for those. Yet. ;)

Just think warm Trini thoughts, and you will MELT that snow. Where are you staying, by the way?

Trinidad. What a wonderful trip - especially during a midwest winter.

You're such a good friend. I hope you realize that. And, you're really going to Trinidad? Awesome. I love saying, "Trinidad y Tobago" with a Spanish accent - just for the hell of it.

Ugh, I read your post yesterday and wasn't able to comment for some reason :(

I'm so sorry you were stuck in traffic so long!!! Something like that happened to me in Florida, and the guy in the car in front of me totally walked out of his car in a suit and tie and peed on the side of the road.

You are such a sweetheart for getting Mark a snow blower. I believe your storm is heading our way! Boy do I wish you were my neighbor. Dadisodes refuses to get a snow blower.

My kids will be thrilled with the snow. That will totally make their day. Personally, I could do without it, but it does tend to make everything look pretty. Glad you were able to tele-commute today.

Thank you for the generous visit and comment on my little old blog. :) I appreciate it. so kind of you. I'm okay....I just wanted her to understand that we all feel insecure sometimes.
Glad you enjoyed my photos.

Sorry to hear of your icky drive home yesterday. that is CRAZY! and I totally know what Kegels are. LOL

oh and lay on your back with your knees bent, feet on the floor, and a pillow between your legs. Squeeze the pillow with your knees for 5-10 seconds then relax. Much easier to do than a kegel and actually does the same thing. don't ask me how I know this....long story.

Have a great day.

I am very familiar with kegels. My husband thanks me. (: tee hee

That was cool of you to get Mark a snowblower! He's gonna need it tomorrow, yeah?
I knew about those exercises (I've heard they help prevent UTI's for women) but I never knew what they were called!

Jientje: I have had a great day, and thank you.

Shadow: Ooo. Hot, sunshiny love. Oh my goodness.

OHmommy: He's the guy that was growin' up on the Southwest Side while she was growing up on the North side.

Moneythoughts: I'm pretty sure I'm going to post while in Trinidad - I just don't know how much reading I'm going to be doing.

Christy: Yes, I am. God, I'm lucky. I am, really.

Myst_72: Love you, too, Gina.

Witchypoo: I guess. It was that or find him layin' in the driveway.

Lady Language: Thank you, Michelle.

Tash: Y E S !!!!!

Hyphen Mama: Why would Mr. Hyphen, living in Denver, of all places, be the ONLY guy on the block with a snow blower?

Employee: You know - that could be taken as too much information. I'm just sayin'.

Tara R: Yes, Trinidad. And yes, kegels can be done anywhere, and yes, it IS good news about Mark.

Loraine: The precise origin of Ndinombethe is unknown by me, but I suspect the region in and around Kenya.

Maggies Mind: You're not tired of that guy already, are you?

GirlBlue: We will, Halley. we will, I promise.

Nan: With Tash - she has promised to keep us busy for the week. For all I know, we could wind up doing dishes.

Ree: Oh yes. Right smack dab in the middle of the Winter.

AFF: Ya mon. Goin' down de islands.

Momisodes: He's young. His sedentary life style WILL catch up to him, however.

Joyce-Anne: Ah, yes. tele-commuting. I love it.

Corey: Okay. I won't ask. And you're right. It does.

Eve Grey: Ah yes. another satisfied husband.

Nicki: There was an R&B song called "Do The Tighten Up". Or you can do kegels.

Everyone needs a snow day on ocassion and this was your day. Sounds like you made good use of it.

We were just hot and muggy here today, but we are promised colder weather for the weekend. But never what you guys have. And that is a good thing. :)

Take care out in the cold.
