9 and counting

9 days left. Amazing.

Last night, at 5:30 in the evening, I left my warm, comfortable home to go to the office and restart all my servers. We had yet another power outage. It seems someone, during the midst of the afternoon blizzard, drove their car into a pole. that pole carried electricity to the plant. Ooops. I got back home at 9:00pm. I am beginning to think there is no such thing as a vacation from that place. They are, however, going to have a rougher time should anything happen at the end of January - Trinidad is a LOT further away than Plainfield.

SWMBO won't be quiet long enough for me to actually write anything - so I think I'll just put up the next paragraph and be done with it for today.

The next paragraph is our daily push for traffic into Zoeyjane's site for the purpose of raising money for charity. A good charity. So don't stop now. Click.

Zoeyjane of Mommy is Moody is DOING something. She is donating all the revenue from her advertisements on her site, for this month, to To Write Love On Her Arms. Go to Zoeyjane's site and read This Post. She gets paid by 'Impressions'. Just going there helps. Click on her ads - and help more. Click through to To Write Love On Her Arms and see what they do. Just doing that will help, too. This paragraph is going to appear at the end of each post, each day until the end of the month. As a reminder. Just click through. And help. Save the women and men and boys and girls that don't need to live without love, that don't need to suffer addiction and depression, that don't need to die.

Sorry you had to work not only over a weekend but on your vacation. They WILL miss you when you are in Trinidad.

Somehow, there's always someone who seems to need you, and you're always the man ready to help ...
I think it's Karma or something?
I hope you can enjoy a nice, QUIET day, and do all the thinks you've wanted to do for so long.

6:51am Cincinnati and 6 degrees. For the third time in 2 weeks I am going to drive my BMW to the service dept. because the "check coolant level" light keeps coming on, and they can't fix it, or they haven't to this point. Tomorrow I leave for Florida, and I'm fooling with this stuff and I have other things to do. Have a nice vacation Lou.

Having to go to the office while on vacation is just kind of sucktacular, but, yes, Trinidad will be oh so much further away! It's also gotta be kind of good to be needed at a job these days anyway, right?

Hmmmm. My mom used to say, "No rest for the wicked..."

But that couldn't apply to you, could it??? LOL

Seriously, get out of the country so they can't bug you, man!

it's good to be needed but thats ridiculous! they need to get someone else to back you up.

My dad was one of those folks who took on too much responsibility at work and ended up being taken advantage of- until he demoted himself. He had less money, but a lot less stress, and I'd rather have a happy dad any day- still, the nickname "Grumpa" stuck...

Too bad you can't restart your servers remote.. that's what our IT guy does. Try to enjoy your vacation.

I like a job where when I leave thats it, you are having a lot of snow over there, seen it on the news.
The Zeitgeist Utopia does sound fantastic, maybe thats because it is!
Happy christmas though I will post again before christmas, this is just a quick visit before my AA meeting

That company is very lucky to have you. That's commitment, right there.

Joyce-Anne: Actaully, I hope they don't miss me at all.

Jientje: This morning was a visit to the Doctor's office and the first half of a Nuclear Stress Test. And then the rest of the day was spent cleaning house.

Moneythoughts: Have a nice time in Florida, Fred. Stay warm.

Shadow: It's really more like looking back in disbelief.

M+B: I hope so, too. Thanks.

Cat: I'm sorry to hear that oyu've been sick. Glad you're getting better, though.

Maggie's Mind: Oh, yeh. It IS nice to be needed - much preferable to being unemployed.

Christy: 4 weeks. And counting.

Raino: Yes. Actually, they do.

Loraine: Do not be fooled - if they didn't pay me to do my job - I'd do it for free.

Tara R: We CHOOSE not to do that - we don't trust the Oracle databases to go down and come up automatically - I would rather go up there and spend an hour or so getting things restarted manually, than spend a day or two restoring a 180GIG database from tape.

Michael: Happy Christmas, Michael.

Hyphen Mama: You're absolutely correct - notwithstanding that in the last 5 years I've saved the company over 3 million dollars.

Momisodes: Thank you. You're right.

Ree: Thank you, Ree. I look over my shoulder in disbelief.

Jientje: I knew that.

Hey Lou sucks that your writing was interrupted. Glad you got power back eventually. Very cool that you are helping Zoeyjane.

Servers have their way of knowing when they can most screw up your life. And then they go down or, as in my case, "take themselves offline" at that very moment.

They're sneaky like elves that way.

Is there anything that you don't throw yourself into all the way? Anything at all? Skip shaving every couple days, even?

The cold I could do without, the snow is a holiday in itself for Pickles and I. I would say it would be highly impossible to reach you in Trinidad..might be worth escaping while you can. (Hugs)Indigo
