Wordy Wednesday - Housekeeping

What you see, above, is the painting sent to Hyphen Mama. If you will remember, she had sent me a rubbing from the movable Viet Nam Memorial amd I did this painting, for her, in humble and abject gratitude for an extremely thoughtful act of kindness. You see the painting here at it looks in its frame, on her wall, although the greater context is not established because at the time of this picture, she wasn't done obsessing over the repaint of the rooms in her home.

Further Housekeeping...

I ported the story over to Google Documents today. With the 'Epilogue', which publishes tomorrow, it's just over 11,929 words. All I would have to do is take each episode, make it 10 times longer, sort things out a little bit, and I would have a book!!! Truth be told, when I saw that number I was dumbfounded. I have never written 11,929 words about anything in my life. What I plan to do now that I have it in Google Documents is to a) make it into a true short story and b) make it into a movie script. I may even work on turning it into a book. Doing so would mean more emphasis on his time in Las Vegas, a greater number of characters, an occasional sex scene, and lurid descriptions of The Kid's use of his knife in a progressively messier fashion - as referred to by Sully in his conversation with The Boss. There would also be an opportunity to develop stronger and deeper characterizations of both The Boss and Sully, and maybe take them back to their roots in gangland Chicago. All in all, it ought to be a fun exercise.

And one more bit of housekeeping ....

Well, I was going to send everybody over to Loralee Choate's because she hadn't been posting in a while and I thought she might be in a blue funk - but it turns out she's pregnant. Which is good news. Even better news - it's not mine. So go say hello if you've a mind to. She's another of those 'missed blogs' that I was going to point out anyway.

Today, October 1st, is the first day of the last one-fourth of the blog365 lap around the Sun. 91 days to go after today.

Remember, tomorrow is the "Epilogue" to the story of The Kid.

Peace.

October first already huh? It's been almost a year since I first started blogging in English! What a journey that has been!

Good of you to turn this into a short story.
I'm very curious about the epilogue. All in all The Kid has been a wonderful experience for you I think!

Turning it into a movie sounds like a great idea. Will it incorporate some of the "past lives" episodes? Obviously not all of them, just enough to pad out the story a bit and give people as sense of what might have made The Kid what he is today.

Love the painting! It was worth the wait. What is this Google Documents of which you speak?

I think we have a new American writer of fiction. I like the screen play idea, but I think you will have a better chance at a screen play if it is published as a book first. It is my hope that you will be able to give up your day job at some point and devote your time to writing, painting and sex. God, wouldn't that be the life!

I'm glad you're thinking about other opportunities for The Kid. Whether it be a short story, a book or even a screen play, the world has to hear his story.

I'm going over to visit Loralee now.

However far you can take the Kid, I'm cheering for you. Just amazing. Looking forward to tomorrow!

Holy cow - I still can't believe the "blog 365" thing. It's amazing the variety of things you have to blog about! I'd be down to posting what color my underpants were for lack of any other creative material. ;)

I read Loralee and was so happy to hear that she was pregnant.. I'm happier to hear it's not yours.. I bet Annie is, too.

((HUGS)) I Don't hug you enough.

I do not think this art will leave you, when you have opened yourself to it so completely.

91 days?!??!!?! Hal-le-lu-jah!

I love the way your piece looks framed and on the wall. Very much like a gallery piece.

I think you have some amazing opportunities to expand with your story. I cannot wait to see what you decide to do with it. Just promise me you'll remember me when you're famous, K? :)

Since you're doing all this 'housekeeping' today, how 'bout coming over and cleaning my house?

Ahhh, employee no. 3699 beat me to it --- an invite to clean my house. :) Looking forward to the epilogue tomorrow, but will be late reading it since I teach again tomorrow and Friday and then every day until the fist of May. My blogging will become later. I always feel like I'm a day behind the rest of the world now.
Tomorrow.

Hey, I remember that painting! See, it's just what that wall needed. :)

Man, I am SO late to the party. I, too, LOVE the way the painting looks on the wall... snicker, snicker... I'm just glad it's MY wall. And obsessing over paint, still not done. Sunday! Sunday there will be a party. Sunday everybody will see the painting. Many have 'heard' about it and are in anticipation of seeing it for themselves.

The Kid as a movie! Brilliant.

Tomorrow... Thursday... the Epilogue.

Today... needs to be over for me. I've been up since 4:52 this am and I'm exhausted! Thanks for being patient with the missed phone call.

Wow, that is a lot of words and I hope you explore those options with the story. You never know what could happen if you don't try :-) Going to visit Loralee...

Hi Lou, sorry, I will catch up on blog reading soon. Life has gotten so busy..........

Aww, 3699 beat me to my "housecleaning" comment. That's what I get for blogging so late.

Love the painting, and I can't wait until tomorrow!

Jientje: Yes. A wonderful and eye opening experience.

River: I don't know. The 'Past Lives' thing doesn't belong to me. It's Vikki North's. I'd need her permission.

witchypoo: Online create and store of documents, spreadsheets, presentations, etc.

moneythoughts: OMG. Writing, painting and sex. Not necessarily in that order. Sounds like heaven to me.

Christy: Thank you, Christy.

Nicole: If I get a book published, you won't have to buy it.

Joyce-Anne: Thank you. that's sweet.

Maggie Mind: I hope it turns out to be worth waiting for.

Calicobebop: So you KNOW I'm going to ask -- what color are they?

Secretagentmama: That was a nice hug.

Conversemama: I hope you're right.

Momisodes: Forget you? Impossible.

Employee: Cleaning? Is that related to housekeeping?

patsy: It'll be here, waiting for you. And I see ALL comments.

Holly ATOM: Painting? Isn't that something I used to do?

Hyphen mama: Phone call? What phone call?

Lady Language: I'm testing an idea out, tonight. We'll see.

Warriorwoman: It's enough that you think of me, once in a while.

lola: It was fun to write. I hope it's fun to read.

Bridge: Thank you, beautiful.

Lou after seeing what you can do with the kid. I am sure you would be able to turn it into a complete novel. I would venture a bet that you would also get it published without much effort (marketing wise). I know how hard it is to develop the characters and story. You make it look so easy.

The painting is absolutely lovely . . . looking forward to the Epilogue . . .

housekeeping... i like that. again, i think the painting is great. the colours, the quiet before the storm, kind of.

glad to hear you're not 'deserting' the kid. keep working on it. there's great potential there.

and it sounds a bit like the blog365 is creating some pressure? but now it's only 90 days to go....

Okay okay so I'm behind. I passed in yesterday but didn't have time to read this entry. I'm back today, read the Epilogue, made a comment about publishing and then here I am feeling like a schmuck cause you'd already laid out your plans.

Good plan... I'd buy it. I'd send people to buy it too.

I'm so glad the baby's not yours. I don't think A would tolerate that. And, I love the picture on the wall.
