Oops! I forgot to name this one.

The lovely Calicobebop tagged me with a meme.

The rules are to write five positive things about yourself. I don’t care how goofy or weird those things are; I simply want them to be things you think are rad and that you absolutely believe with your whole heart. Like don’t hand me any “I’m a great mom!!” stuff if you actually think you’re only a pretty good mom. See what I mean? After you write your list, tag five other people tag anyone who wants to do it to compose a list. Maybe we can fight this blogfluitis, five however many bloggers at a time.

Now all I have to do is think of five positive things about myself.

1. I learn from my mistakes. I rarely make the same mistake more than four or five times before it finally sinks in and I start getting it right. And once I get it right, it stays with me. I don't forget and need re-training. Just ask Annie.

2. I have a jones for books. I love to read. In the last year I have read 13 books of more than 300 pages. Not as much as I would like, but I try to read quality. The last book I read was "The Zookeeper's Wife", by Diane Ackerman. I read at night, while I rub Annie's back so she can sleep.

3. I own Lou's Magic Hands. I give great back and neck massages, foot and hand massages. All over massages. Some people have hard hands when they massage - they hurt rather than heal. My hands are 'soft' and they warm to their task quite nicely. I feel 'knots' in a person and I can work them out - plus I know all of the major accupressure points for pain relief and the proper redirection of 'Chi'.

4. If you have a computer problem, especially some esoteric and intractable problem, I am the guy you want working to resolve your issue. Mind you, I do not claim to have all the answers, but I learned a long time ago, from my Grandfather, that the smart man does not know all the answers, he knows where to FIND the answers. And I never, ever give up.

5. I am a 'Writer' and an 'Artist', things it has taken a long time for me to learn to call myself. I have always had an immense amount of respect for those who produce 'Art' - written, painted, printed, sculpted, drawn or photographed. To find myself numbered among those for whom I have always had so much respect is a surprise; a pleasant surprise, to be sure, but a surprise nonetheless.

I have intentionally avoided any reference to family life - that's too easy. Of course I think I'm a good husband and father, but after more than 31 years I have accumulated my fair share of sins and I wouldn't be able to tell you how good I am without telling you how bad I've been, as well. You DON'T want to know, and even if you did, I wouldn't want to tell you.

And go to Veronica's and drop a comment - and say a prayer that the sweet little girl can hang on to her 25 week pregnancy.

massages, now you tell me? but somehow it makes perfect sense that you should have magic hands. for from those magic hands, the writer and the artist flows too. and a darn good one you are too!

Uh oh..I'm trying to figure out a way to leave a comment indicating my interest in Lou's Magic Hands without getting in trouble with my husband.

Very important to know what you are and are not.

What a cool meme. I'm with you on learning to call yourself things you are. I'm still wrapping my own brain about people referring to my photographs as "art." :)

Awesome! Thanks Lou!

Magic hands? Annie is a lucky lady!

I could have used those magic hands last night....but maybe you've already learned about 4-5 times NOT to massage lonely women other than your wife????

And yes. You're a good friend.

Magic hands are a very special gift;

Knowing yourself and aknowledging your own qualities is a very good thing. My parents never encouraged that, and it has damaged my self esteem a lot. A meme like that would be hard for me I think?

That would be tough meme, but you tackled it, and answered in in a down to earth honest way.

You are definitely a writer, no doubt about it. Shame on me, I have not checked your art blog.

Thanks for sharing, you let your readers know just a little more about you and your modest ways.

And I think you're super fabulous! And an articulate and well-spoken writer. And I love your creations! And you're an excellent networker. And you know things. And you have a gentle heart and a keen perspective. And, like I said, I think you're super fabulous!

Heard that book is really good. It's on my list of books to buy.

You certainly are a writer and an artist... and as myst says - a good friend too.

You radiate compassion... all the way through the internet (quite a task)

I think I'll give that a try. The meme, although the massage would be nice when I have that knot in my neck.

I'll go visit Veronica's. I always hate it when someone is having trouble with a pregnacy -- breaks my heart because I had such easy times.

If you're ever in NY, I'd like to try some of Lou's magic hands. Fortunately, my husband is NOT the jealous type and I love and appreciate a good back rub. Annie is a lucky lady.

Off to visit Veronica now. Take it easy and don't work too hard.

I could use some magic hands a couple of times a week. Sciatica!

I, too, have a huge respect for those with artistic or writing talent. I come from a family FULL of 'em... and yet, I've got very little. That's not a jab at myself, it's just that my talents are elsewhere. And now I get to respect YOUR artistic and writing talents.

oooooo, maybe you can tell me how to get my new wireless printer to work with Vista. The computer "sees' the printer but it will. not. print.

It's about time you called yourself an artist Lou.

I'd do the five great thing list but my ego demands a longer list and - my ego lies!!!!!

Think you could teach Dadisodes? I'm always asking him for a back rub.

You are indeed a writer, an artist, but also a wonderful friend. :)

Heading over to V's

myst_72: Thanks, Gina. That's sweet of you to say.

shadow: Yup. Massages. Deep, penetrating, full body massages.

manager mom: Just tell him he's next.

ayewonder: Yes, Mike. You're right.

rebecca: You ARE an artist.

calicobebop: You're welcome. And thank you.

christy: Thank you, Christy. I can't think of many things I'd rather be but a good friend.

jientje: You are such a sweet person. You wouldn't have to look very hard to findwhat you were looking for.

eric s: Modest? I don't know about all that modest stuff. Unless, of course, you're referring to 'not naked' modest. In which case - that ain't me.

ash: Oooo, don't stop now.

tash: Thank you, Tash.

patsy: I would if I could, but there's a lot of geography twixt thee and me.

joyce-anne: If I'm ever in New York, you got one coming.

hyphen mama: I'll give you a great back run - right after that three-way.

karen: We're working on it.

warriorwoman: Yes. It is about time. And I LOVE your ego.

momisodes: I don't usually do these things when husbands are around.

I did it, I came up with 5 positive things about me. :)

I absolutely LOATHE having to give a massage. Loathe. It. I don't know why, I just do. I'd sooner pay someone to massage my husband's back rather than do it myself. Do you make housecalls? LMAO! ;)

You are clearly a life long learner. I simply adore people who are pretty cool with not knowing everything, not being perfect, but have no issues with continually trying, improving . . . living.

I'm glad you finally have accepted your titles . . . writer . . . artist. That is wonderful . . .
