Great Bloggy Bling Orgy - Day 1

I'm going to give this one, which came to me from Siobhan at abritdifferent. She is one of the NaBloPoMo bloggers whom I met early on, and one of the classiest ladies you'd ever get to know.

I present to you - in no particular order - people whose blogs I love.

First is Warriorwitch from Warriorwoman. She is honest and strong and straightforward - she inspires me.

Second is Sandy C. of Momisodes. She is a sweet and caring woman, mother to one of the most beautiful little girls you ever want to see. She was the first commenter on this blog.

Third is Jientje of Heaven in Belgium. She is an excellent photographer whose work I love, and she speaks excellent English.

Fourth is Lotus of Sarcastic Mom. Mother of Braden, wife of John, a degreed woman who looks at her life with humor and sarcasm and a camera. And she owns a great RACK.

Fifth is Hyphen Mama of Mommy Needs 5 Minutes. Mother to two, wife to one, willing to open her heart and mind to a total stranger. She took a rubbing of the Viet Nam wall for me. I did a painting for her.

Sixth is Tash from Fabric of Life. A single mother to a brilliant young lad, a lady, a lawyer. From Trinidad and her son plays cricket.

Seventh is witchypoo from Psychichgeek. She lives somewhere north of the border and her purple plates are wonderous. She and warriorwoman seem to get lit a lot.

Tomorrow - ten of a different sort.

What follows is something I wrote many years ago, when number one son first graduated to his own small bed - his Big Boy bed.

A Lullaby

Listen my child
and I'll tell you a rhyme
of long ago places
and a far away time

A poem of princes
and wizards and kings
who fought mighty dragons
and wore magic rings

and ruled with an iron hand.

Listen my child
and then off to sleep
and as you lie
in slumber deep

dream dreams of the tales
I tell to you
If you dream hard enough
they may come true

and wouldn't that be grand.

Listen my child
as I tell you my tale
Of knights errant
in shining mail

But, alas, I guess
my rhymes will keep
for I see you are
already asleep.

Good night, my child,
Sweet dreams, my child,
of your own.

Peace.

Well, hey, thanks for the compliment, but it's been all your doing really?
See,I met Sandy C and Lotus on Nablopomo. They're the ones that gave me strength to take this journey, blogging in a language not my own, and trying to improve it. I think I'm not doing so bad, I even learned how to flirt in English? Huh? ** raises left eyebrow, twinkle eyes**
Sandy was the one who dragged me into 365. And all of you folks, out there, that I haven't met yet, I'll visit as soon as I can, I promise.
Any friend of yours are star quality friends, I just know that.
To have a little place among all your favourites gives me wings!
Yes Lou, you did make my day.
And I feel a great post coming up for my heaveninbelgium blog for today! Your comments on my blog create butterfly wings inside of me.
They're everywhere.
Thanks for this award.
It is one of the most cherished things here in this Blogging Universe.
But I owe it all to you, and everyone I met here.
I love you all, folks! Hugs and kisses! xxxxxxxxxxx......

what a poem. just right from a father to his son!

and, no need to apologise for something you wrote. a writer should feel free to express any words they wish. okay, if you're not comfortable with them, don't post them. but don't apologise for them!

Aw, I love that poem. It's just so perfect, and I love the ending because so much of it is like so many other stages of a child's life, too, becoming more and more independent from parents and having dreams of his own.

Great poem. Wonderful ending. :) Thanks for sharing this -- softer side of Lou. :)
You do have neat friends on the 'net. I got into this because of my daughters and have wandered from the initial purpose, but have found some wonderful people along the way.

Thank you, Lou! I <3 your blog, AND you!

I love the poem...now I'm intrigued. Was Lord of the Rings in book form when he was little (I could research that, but I'd have to put that on my mile-long to do list)? Or did you make up stories for your son at bedtime and LOR came along later--in which case I think you've got a heck of a law suit *wink*.

Have a wonderful day!

Thank you for your words, you are very kind. As for that poem - wow. What a beautiful, touching and moving piece of poetry. I'm with Mike, you need to have this - and many others - published. You have a real, amazing talent there.

First, let me say I agree with Shadow about what you wrote the other day. As part of a bigger story, it would have been perfect. It just needed context. It certainly was well written.

I like your poem to your son, very beautiful. Perhaps you have a collection of your poetry to publish?

Awards went to only women. What happened to PC and equal time/opportunity? :)

I simply love that poem. It's moving. You see you're wrong about being new to art. You just are using a new creative outlet in painting. Because your poetry is also art.

Does your lullaby have a melody -- I mean is it a song? It's beautiful.

I came at the suggestion of one of my friends, Joyce. She speaks very highly of you and I can see why. That poem is oh so sweet.

I'll be back-especially since you named off a couple of my daily reads in those awards. :)
