100 Word Challenge - Abundant

What follows is in response to the 100 Word Challenge, usually offered by the plenteous Velvet Verbosity, but temporarily hosted here. The word this week is "Abundant".

100 Word Challenge

In the near and coming future ...

"Jones! What's the wait time for signals to return from Mars?"

"About 6 minutes, General. 3 out. 3 back. That doesn't take into account the time necessary to formulate a response. Sir."

"How soon are they due back from their EVA?"

"12 minutes, Sir. We can see them approaching the Dome now. They're about 5 minutes out. They'll spend the rest of the time in the decontamination port."

"I don't know why. Damn planet's dead."

....

"Captain Sterming, report!!"

"Sterming, here."

"Well????"

"The bugs reanimated, Sir. We added water, yesterday, and today they're alive. Abundant and alive. We are not alone ...."

Grannie is much happier now that she has been returned to the unit of the Nursing Center she was in when she first came out of the hospital. Since the surgery is put off a bit, it makes sense to keep her where she feels more comfortable. She says "Thank you" to all her well wishers and I'm sure she'll email all or most of you when she gets done with all of this.

Instant bugs, just add water. Scary thought!
I'm glad Grannie is happier where she is right now. She needs to get some strength before the operation and there is no better place to do that than where she feels at ease.

Most definitely could be our not too distant future.

Glad to hear Grannie is feeling more comfortable.

Must not have been cockroaches. Nothing "deanimates' them.

Keep improving, Grannie!

I have a picture of Brian and I on my nightstand-it's the one of us at the Sox game (the one where I'm wearing my HAT!)...so I see Granny every morning and every night...sort of. :)

Reconstituted insects in abudance sounds a bit frightening. I hope the future doesn't come too soon.

Fun piece to read!

Oh no! Not the reconstituted bugs... they're the scariest kind.

Just when you think you've got 'em contained...

Made me think of the movie 'Starship Troopers' not the Bradbury classic.

Glad that Grannie is on the mend and doing better.

Well, good. I'm glad she's comfortable. Does she ever read your stuff?
