Number 326

I have noticed that today's post is the 326th post on this blog. The first one, on December 11th, 2007 and the next one, published the next day, went without comment.

The post reproduced below, from the 13th of December, is the post that earned the first comment on this blog.

13 December, 2007

Well, I have sent messages to all of my NaBloPoMO FRIENDS letting them know about this site, and that I'm probably not going to blog on NING any longer. I just don't really understand how all of that is supposed to work. That said, I am loathe to shut that site down - it was fun and I met some really nice people there and I really don't feel good about just walking away from it. We'll just have to see how it all shakes out.

We had our last art class last night. It was sad, in a way, because these people in the class have all been so mutually supportive and non-judgmental and we have all had the shared experience of learning something, together. And now we must all go our separate ways. There are some people from that class I would like to stay in touch with because of their personality, more than anything else.

Meanwhile, I made some real progress on the painting. I am going to post a picture of the current state of the piece, tonight, in the NewAtArt blog. I would have done so last night, but I had a scar of the face of the painting I had to repair and it didn't leave me any time to set up for the picture. It seems that as I was packing up to go home, my picture decided to take a dive off the support I use to carry it from place to place and it fell on the corner of my paint box. It made a scrape in the surface of the painting. Fortunately, working in oil means that you can still move paint around for many hours after it is applied, so I was able to repair the fault when I got home. I am SO glad I'm not working in acrylic.

And this was my first comment on this blog. It came from Sandy C., otherwise known as Momisodes:

I hear you. I met so many great people through NaBlahBlah, but I think everyone is currently licking their wounds from blogging daily for 30 days straight. I'm so glad you left a note about blogging here :) I look forward to checking back in!

Thrilling stuff, eh? I love the notion that everyone was licking their wounds "from blogging daily for 30 days straight". I wonder what I'm going to be licking at the end of this year? Sandy, if we only knew what we were in for.

what's also cool about blogging is being able to look back a year, 2 years, and see what was up then... secretly i'm glad though that you moved from whereever to here, otherwise i wouldn't have found you.

Sandy was one of my first friends through Nablopomo too! It's sweet to read it again, about licking wounds!!! We really thought blogging 30 days straight was some accomplishment huh? A bit of torture even! And then she dragged us all into 365 and we're still going strong!!

Wow, that's just cool. I did NaBlahWhatSandySaid last year, and it's how I met people who led me to others and to yet others. The bloggy world is cool.

I knew I couldn't commit to blogging every day because my travels would take me places without internet access. And now, I think I'm running out of stories.

Well, I didn't realize recycling was permitted. I have several of my first blogs that were only commented on by my daughters. I'm so glad I now have others in this thing I call my *life*. :) How ever we came together, I'm glad we have. Lou, and all the ones who comment at Lou's. I feel like we are all part of a family.

Lou,
I honestly don't know how you do it. I try to post whenever possible but that can be difficult also. Pretty amazing. You are.

MissyBoo said...

Lou to write something amazing everyday is... well amazing! Even when you claim to have writer's block you still come up with something amazing!

every day for a year is alot of blogging... and you're still going strong.

NaBloPoMo is when I started reading other people's blogs. I didn't find you, however, until the I started reading Sandy who commented on Functional Schmuntional who commented on Suzannesez--all participants of the blog365 campaign. Cool.

NaBlo was the most stressful thing last year. Everyday, making sure I got a post up by 11:59. Ugh. Now, I'm doing a novel? I think I've officially lost it.

Melissa said...

I did NaBlo last year, too, and I think I only keep up with maybe two of those blogs from then. This year I'm doing the novel instead.

And please, don't share with us what you'll be licking. TMI.

Yeah.

I really don't want to know what you will be licking.

I did pretty good for the first half of this year, until we moved to Alaska. Enough of a culture shock to throw me off, I guess.

But also gave me new stuff to write about, like today's -- I never had a use for bear bells til we moved here.

Oh blogging is so good for you, u often well speaking for myself as I feel now? well you might not feel like it, but when u do it u feel good, a message is precious though it means others are sharing your little life.
Its like praying in it, u might not feel like it but when u do it u feel good

"I wonder what I'm going to be licking at the end of this year?" Hahaha! I actually did NaBloPoMo elsewhere, and it was rough. It would be hard for me to blog every day. You've done a great job!

As much as I love blogging, I don't think I could do 30 days straight. Not with my schedule/ ADHD...

Lou, your amazing. for not just blogging every day, I have seen you post more than once a day. I considered doing a 30 for 30 thing, and may still. But I worry I will not be able to keep up. I don't know how you do it, but you do and so well.

Shadow: I'm glad too.

Jientje: Yes. Still going strong.

Maggies Mind: The bloggy world IS cool.

Witchypoo: How can you run out of stories with the friends you have?

Patsy: I did a post about my 'cyber family' once. Don't worry - I won't recycle it. Yet.

Ayewonder: Thank you, Mike. It's fun, that's why I can do it.

m+b: It gets difficult from time to time. But I love it - and it's worth doing.

Tash: Still going strong - loving every minute of it - and everyone involved.

Joyce_Anne: We have GOT to get you started on your own blog.

Zoeyjane: You haven't lost it. You're invigorated by the challenge.

Melissa: My fingers. From typeing so much. So There.

Julie: Hi there. I kinda lost track of you. I'm glad you came by. CausesRatsInLabCancer will see me today.

Michael: As you say.

Holly ATOM: Thank you, Holly. i think part of it is not letting it become a pressure.

Loraine: Each should do as he or she feels best. For some, 365 blogging is not appropriate. No harm in that, at all.

Eric S: thank you, Eric. Like I said - it's something I love.

Lou,

I was looking forward to resting after NaBlowMe, then Holidailies happened, then Blog 265. By the time the day of rest came up (Feb 29th), I didn't want it! It's so ingrained, I'm not sure when I'll take a day off,

I keep telling Joyce she needs to blog, but I'll take her being an avid reader for now. Then again, I'm the lucky one who gets frequent phone calls from her to hear the stories she should be blogging!

It is so cool to have done the events, otherwise, I wouldn't have met so many awesome people.

NaBloMoFo has a lot to answer for, doesn't it? Then again, I wouldn't have met you.

Anyone that can blog everyday straight for a year is either a genius or totally insane. Actually, I could do it. But, by week three, I would just be slapping up the color of my underwear for the day and called it finished.

We became friends during that month - I remember it well because you also sent your Nablahblah friends a kind email thanking us for our friendship. And I believe that is when I became hooked on reading your blog.
